From the results obtained with two kinds of narcotics it can
be concluded with certainty that the intensity of nervous impulse
set up in the narcotised region is not dependent on the intensity
of the nervous impulse which enters into this region, in the other
words, the validity of “ all or none principle ” for the narcotised
region of nerve was confirmed.

2. In the experiments above mentioned the two nervous im¬
pulses of different intensities were passed through the narcotised
region as, so to speak, “ natural” stimuli of the different intensi¬
ties. Further experiments are needed to determine whether the
size of the nervous impulse set up by the “ external ” stimulus
