zur Kirche zu gehen, es musste regelmässig geschehen, sonst waren die Prediger un-
zufrieden und straften die Verbrecher. In dem Presbytery Book of Strathbogie ist
angemerkt, dass am 29. September 1649, „Mr. Johne Reidfurd being posed quhat
diligenee he had vsed to the Lady Frendraught, reported, shoe had hard three sermons,
and so, as he thought, shoe intended to continow ane hearer. The bretheren, con-
sidering her long continowed contumecie und delay of her process, by heiring a sermon

schuldigungen. Unter keinen Umständen wollten die Prediger die Beleidigung dulden,
dass einer ihre Predigten nicht hören wolle. In 1650, „compeired the Lord Oliphant,
being summondit for not keeping his parish kirk of Abercherdour, vho declared his
inabilitie of bodie many tymes, und the want of houses for accommodnting him and
his familie so farr distant from the same, was the lonlie eaus, qnhilk he promised to
