and the Academy was thus constituted. The
academicians afterwards met and chose a coun-
cil to assist the president, and visitors to super-
intend the schools in three branches of art,
painting, sculpture, and architecture. Thus,
on the 10th Deceinber, 1768, under the title
of the Royal Academy of the Arts in London,
that Institution, which has done more to excite
a taste for the fine arts in this country, than any
similar institution ever did in any other, was
finally formed and established.
